WHO
WE ARE

The Nassau County Caucus Black Democrats is dedicated to building Black political power through leadership, advocacy, and civic engagement. We empower Black Democrats to make a difference—whether by running for office, leading community organizations, serving on boards and commissions, volunteering on campaigns, organizing in their neighborhoods, or advocating for policies that strengthen our communities.

ABOUT

First founded on December 9, 1999, our organization was built on a foundational promise: to ensure our communities have an unapologetic, effective, and unified voice in every hall of power across Nassau County and New York State. While our operations may have paused over the years, our mission never wavered.

Today, as we stand on the threshold of 2026, we do not simply restart, we relaunch with power, purpose, and total commitment.

Standing on the Shoulders of Giants

Before we step into this powerful new chapter, we must pause and bow our heads in profound gratitude to those who paved the way. * To those who have transitioned: We honor the giants whose legacy lives on in every stride we take. They fought the tough battles when the doors were closed, laid the brickwork of our foundation, and dedicated their lives so that we could have a seat at the table today. Their spirits guide our movement forward.

  • To our elders, leaders, and pioneers who are still with us: We say THANK YOU. You kept the flame alive, protected our history, and demonstrated what resilient leadership truly looks like. Your wisdom remains our anchor, and as we relaunch, we do so with your guidance leading the way.

We do not replace history—we honor it by carrying the torch forward.

Why 2026? Why Now?

We are entering a pivotal political moment. From our local fire districts, water boards, and school boards to county, state, and national government, decision-makers are shaping the future of our housing, our schools, our safety, and our economic resources.

If you are not at the table, you are on the menu. With our official state re-registration complete, the NCCBD is positioned as an active, independent force to:

  • Mentor & Elect Leader Pipeline: Actively recruit, train, and endorse Black candidates across every tier of local government.

  • Demand Economic Equity: Drive equal access to municipal funding, business contracts, and economic development opportunities for our communities.

  • Hold Power Accountable: Build strong strategic alliances with civic groups, labor unions, faith leaders, and youth organizations to demand results.

  • Engage & Mobilize: Turn out the vote and ensure our community's voice is heard on every ballot issue.

We Are Going Hard. We Need YOU in the Movement.

A charter or state registration is just paper—THE PEOPLE are the power. To hit the ground running in 2026, we need every voice, every skill, and every generation at the table.

Whether you are a seasoned organizer, a young leader ready to make an impact, a business owner, a civic activist, or someone who simply wants to see real change in your neighborhood—this is your home.
